I have heard good things about the new software where its faster and the battery life is great and amazing. In my last post I tried out the new HDR photos capabilities on my iPhone 4 but this post is about one of the most vexing problems with iOS 4xiPhone 3G owners and how iOS 4 hobbled their phones. It was then I realized that the only real feature I wanted in iOS - multitasking - doesnt work on the iPhone 3G.
Turning on and off the airplane mode will cut off the connection between the handset and the network and kind of refresh the connection. My question is whether or not I should update my software now to iOS 5 so I can start enjoying some of the new features like iMessage and iCloud. The iPhone 3GS is now ANCIENT and by ancient I mean it is 11 years old and that is basically medieval in the phone world.
Update iOS on iPhone. And I enjoy my experience on 4. The iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 ATT only will support iOS 43.
Very snappy on the 3GS really only missing FaceTime My friend upgraded his 3G to 40 and he had the same problems. And would like it updated to the IOS 613. My friend updated his itouch and its really cool because you can put a picture in the backscreen not jailbroken and i want that for my phone.
If You need to unlock you should never update with the official ipsw unless theres a current unlock available for that firmware. Apple is officially leaving the iPhone 3G behind to run iOS 421 firmware forever. Luckily I got a 3GS.
Actually it was released in Feb 2014 3 months after varjacks post and almost a year after the thread started. I guess a unified email box and folders sort of make it a worthwhile software upgrade but dont expect a breathtakingly better experience. Its basically the phone that started the entire industry we now know and love.
I want to update my Iphone 3GS from 511 to the new software 613 but I am scared I might lose stuff. Should I update my iphone 3g. More Less Jun 28 2013 331 AM.
I havent had any issues with my phone other than when I last updated my phone. I am unable to update my 3g iphone to the new ios 42 in itunes I get a message that itunes is current with its updates 92 but nothing about the phone update. If you havent updated to iOS 421 on your iPhone 3G you can find iPhone 3G firmware files here.
As phones go they dont get much more seminal than Apples iPhone 3GS in the history of cellphones. When you update to the latest version of iOS your data and settings remain unchanged. Before you update set up iPhone to back up automatically or back up your device manually.
IPhone 30 is a new feature bonanza that requires no new hardware. Any idea how to fix that. So if you have an iPhone 5 5S 6 or 6S or even if youre holding on to a practically ancient iPhone 4 or 4S here are the 5 reasons why you should upgrade to a new iPhone.
It only works on the iPhone 3GS and of course the new iPhone 40. If you have a iPhone 3GS yes it will update to iOS 6 if you have however hacked the carrier update on your 3G then no and we cant help you. I updated my iphone about two months ago and it messed up my phone.
Should I update my jailbroken iPhone from 401 firmware to 42 and then jailbreak it again. I updated it to 40 n my bb bcame 051402 so i waited for redsn0w. But for now Ive got to hold onto my 3GS.
I was thinking of updating to 41 official n den using redsn0w to jailbreak n unlock it again. But everything has been improved I heard in the 41 update. NOw its out but its says to update bb to 061500 frm new redsn0w n unlock frm ultrasn0w.
I also had the 3G running ios 4 for a few days before getting the iPhone 4. But the redsn0w never recognizes my ipsw 40 file. It seemed at times that it was snappier than before and at times much slower than before.
No more updates for the iPhone 3G will be forthcoming. It will be delivered as an operating system update for owners of all models of iPhone iPhone 3G and iPod Touch. I hav an iphone 3g.
I dont want to risk my phone getting all messed up again and not working. Another example is some apps and some 3D games dont load unless it. My 3GS broke now Im here with a 3G on 42b2.

I wound up syncing the apps via iTunes and got the iPhone 3G back into near normal operation - only minus data for some of the apps. So should i do this. But could you technically still use it in 2020 if the circumstances arose.
